The Tucker Free Library is home to the LENA MERRICK dollhouse which her class of 6th graders from Henniker built during the 1913-14 school year. That makes the dollhouse 100 years old.
Prior to putting the dollhouse on display, library staff tried to find the story of the structure, the class members who made it, and Lena Merrick. Despite hours of research both here at Tucker Free and at the Henniker Historical Society, very little information about the dollhouse has been found.
THE DOLLHOUSE NEEDS A STORY... Since it is the 100 year anniversary of its construction, let's connect the past to the present and write a story for future generations of Henniker residents to enjoy. Pick a favorite room, create some characters who might live in the room, or write about a child who may have helped build it back in 1913! FACTS ARE WELCOME AS WELL!
All contributions will be published in a collection of stories about the house to be kept forever with the dollhouse. One hundred years from now, it will reflect not only the residents who built it but also who we are today!
SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED UNTIL JUNE 1st, 2014
Drop off your poem, story, or facts at any desk at the library, email it to firstname.lastname@example.org and in the subject line write "LENA" or mail to PO BOX 688, Henniker, NH 03242.
