The Tucker Free Library now has a WORDPRESS BLOG that is a link on the LEFT. This feature enables us to offer RSS feed service. What is an RSS feed? This is a extra feature that allows us to post information on the blog and enable patrons to receive instant updates from our library on your internet browser such as my. yahoo or igoogle.
To add the RSS feed to your page go to your RSS feed editor and look for "ADD RSS" once you locate this you will be asked to type in your RSS URL. For the Tucker Free Library this URL is: http://tuckerfreelibrary.wordpress.com/feed.
NOTE: We are all learning how this works so if you have questions please email lynnpiotrowicz@tuckerfreelibrary.org or call Lynn at 428-3471 and we will figure it out together.
WIKI Definition of RSS>
RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format.[2] An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed",[3] or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based or desktop-based. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's URI (often referred to non-technically as a URL) into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.
RSS formats are specified using XML, a generic specification for the creation of data formats. Although RSS formats have evolved since March 1999,[4] the RSS icon (" ") first gained widespread use between 2005 and 2006.[5]

| INSULATING THE TUCKER FREE LIBRARY |
| Since 2005 the library has recorded significant decreases in the amount of oil and electricity used to heat and cool the building. Unfortunately, even with those decreases our utility bills have sky-rocketed. Anyone who has visited the library has experienced the cold winter or hot summer temperatures on the Main Floor (all while listening to the furnace or AC running excessively).
In an effort to control rising utility costs, the Board of Trustees of the Tucker Free Library decided to add a blanket of insulation in the attic. There was an uninsulated space approximately 2.5 to 3.5 feet between the floor of the attic and the ceiling of the Main Floor. Experts suggested that adding insulation in this space would help keep the area a more comfortable temperature and thus decreasing our use of oil and electricity, making our beautiful building more energy efficient.
