Martha Mack grew up in a small town in Vermont. From a young age she had a love of reading, books, and the public library. After graduating from high school she attended Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts where she focused her studies on English Literature, Art History and Film. She interned at the Fleming Museum in Burlington, Vermont working directly with the head of museum education and public programming. Her internship allowed her the opportunity to run the museum's children's outreach program, bringing art classes to Vermont students around the state. Incidentally these classes were held at public libraries, and she worked closely with the children's librarians. It was through this internship that Martha first considered a job at the public library, as it combined her love of books and literature with her passion for working with children in a truly unique and exciting way. Inspired by the many children's librarians she met through her internship Martha attended Simmons College in Boston where she specialized in children's and young adult services. She graduated in May 2009.
