What do a giant pig, the number 2500, a donation of $500.00, DJ and an illusionist have in common? All are part of the GREATEST SUMMER READING PROGRAM EVER CREATED at the Tucker Free Library in Henniker, NH.
This year we have a giant piggy bank that we are calling our READING OINKOMETER! For every book a Henniker child reads or is read, a sticker will be placed on the OINKOMETER! Our goal for the summer of 2008 is 2500 books (500 more than last year).
Instead of just marking progress toward our goal of 2500 books, this year the Friends of the Tucker Free Library have agreed to make a monetary contribution to a very special project. This year the stickers will have the added value of helping members of our sister city of San Ramon, Nicaragua.
FOR EVERY TUCKER FREE LIBRARY BOOK A HENNIKER CHILD READS OR IS READ TO THIS SUMMER, THE FRIENDS WILL CONTRIBUTE 20 CENTS TO THE TOWN LIBRARY IN SAN RAMON! If all the kids in Henniker read 2500 books that means we will be sending $500 to the library in San Ramon! The program runs from June 13th through August 30th so readers get ready for a summer of fun! |
