BOOKS FOR WEEK OF NOVEMBER 9TH - Seasons

As the earth spins, the colors and temperatures change with the seasons and you may be spending more time indoors. Items you already have can be used for creative, indoor play. Big boxes can become boats, rocket ships, or castles while smaller cardboard boxes or plastic containers can be stacked or filled with mystery objects. Hide some items inside and have your child close their eyes and reach inside and describe what they feel, then guess what it is. You can also help your child make homemade toys like spinners, drums, and puppets.

Check out our booklist for this week here!

Seasons of the year

Song: The Four Seasons (Tune: “Skip To My Lou”)

Spring
Rain is falling (wiggle fingers starting up high moving down to the ground)

What should I do? (raise bent arms, palms facing upward, shrug shoulders like questioning) Sing 3X

What should I do, my darling?

Put on rain boots, that’s what I’ll do (pretend to put on boots) Sing 3X

That’s what I’ll do, my darling.

Summer
Sun is shining (put arms in circle overhead, move them side to side)

What should I do? (raise bent arms, palms facing upward, shrug shoulders like questioning) Sing 3X

What should I do, my darling?

Put on sunscreen, that’s what I’ll do (Pretend to rub legs, arms, neck and face with sunscreen) Sing 3X

That’s what I’ll do, my darling.

Fall
Wind is blowing (wave hands and arms from side to side)

What should I do? (raise bent arms, palms facing upward, shrug shoulders like questioning) Sing 3X

What should I do, my darling?

I’ll put my hood up, that’s what I’ll do (Pretend to put hood up and pat head) Sing 3X

That’s what I’ll do, my darling.

Winter
Snow is falling (fingers stretched open, hold high, then flutter down like snowflakes)

What should I do? (raise bent arms, palms facing upward, shrug shoulders like questioning) Sing 3X

What should I do, my darling? Put on mittens, that’s what I’ll do (Clap hands together) Sing 3X

That’s what I’ll do, my darling.

Poem: Seasons Turn

Seasons turn like a big round ball,

Winter, spring, summer, fall.

First come green buds

Then comes grass.

Green leaves turn colors,

Fall comes fast.

Winter snows

Soon turn to rain.

Green buds spring out

Once again.

Seasons turn like a big round ring,

Summer, fall, winter, spring.
